A Wellness Reflection

Seasonal changes bring beauty, but for many families, they also bring challenges, especially, when asthma flares during spring and early summer. I am not a doctor, and I am not giving medical advice. I am simply sharing my personal journey as a mother and a woman of faith, along with wellness practices that have supported my family.

A Mother’s Testimony

For years, my child was hospitalized twice a year. Once in the spring and again in early winter for chronic asthma. Watching your child struggle to breathe is a weight that sits on a mother’s heart.

One day, while sitting at my desk, the Lord spoke one simple phrase to my spirit: “Red onion.”

I had never eaten a red onion in my life. But when I looked it up, I discovered that red onions contain natural compounds long associated with respiratory support. I immediately began adding them to our meals. I learned to make Pico De Gallo, added them to soups and salads, and over time, I noticed a change in my child’s breathing.

Later, I discovered ginger and turmeric—two roots used in many cultures for their warming, soothing qualities. These simple additions became part of our seasonal wellness rhythm.

Below is a gentle, supportive wellness plan you can consider during spring and summer.

A Wellness Reminder

This guide is for general wellness support only. Individuals with asthma or breathing difficulties should remain connected to a qualified healthcare professional.

But here is what I know:

Our bodies are the temple of God.

Ask yourself. Would you want to move into a home that is unclean, broken, or neglected? If not, why would we expect the Holy Spirit to dwell comfortably in a body we do not care for?

Caring for your body is not just self‑care. It is stewardship. It is honor unto God. And it is a blessing to you.
